Governmrnt yet to introduce midwifery formal education Even a decade after the introduction of the midwifery police the government is yet to start formal education to produce qualified midwvisse. According to the ministery of health and population the sallabus to teach midwifery as an independent subject is currently being drafted. We will probably start a course on midwifery from april next year  said health secretary shanta bahadhur shrestha  according to shrestha tha Nepal health science trust is designing the course which will be taught at patan academy of health science BP koeraloa institute of health science and kathmandhu university.
Midwives play a crucial role for safe motherhood and theire service can go a long way to ensure  good health of new mother during dekivery and the post partum period as well as the newsbourn. In south asuin region srilanka  has set ab example of midwives playing a kye role un ensuring good maternal health. According to the midwifery associate of Nepal (MIDSON) 12 mother and 75 newborn die during delivery each day. According to kiran bajryachrya, presedent of MIDSON various studies have revealed that the presence of midwives can significanty rate by two third and infant moralitaty rate by half .

According to the Nepal democracy health  survey (MIDSON) 2011,44 percent of women recive antendants (SBAs) who are dectors or nue=rse midwives . similarty only 29 persent pregnant womrn make antenatual care visites during their pregnanvcy and less than 19 percent of birth take place with the assustance of sbas in a health facility hereas 81 percent of birth take at home.in order to reduce maternal and child mottality rates the government had launched midwifery policy back in 2006 . according to the ministry of health and population the syllabus ti teach midwife According to kiran bajryachrya, presedent of MIDSON various studies.
